Guide for Adding Events

Anyone is able to use this crowd-sourced platform to add events, theirs or someone else's. We do need to follow a few guidelines here, however.

Basics

  • Please use English for basic info, including title and description. You can stay brief if you want to and just link to the main event on e.g. FB for more info. But we want an audience of all languages and origin to be able to see and read event info.
  • Please use non-`SHOUTING` for words, especially in titles. Only acronyms (BZDC) should be uppercase-only. Let's be fair to everyone.
  • Avoid repeating location or time in the title, the title should only outline the what and who, the other parts are done by the system using other fields.

If you fear that info can get outdated, best to remove too detailed infos like workshop schedule if there is a single source of truth somewhere else (e.g. FB event). This page aims to be a simple discovery and introduction page into those events at this point. The organizers might not always want to update all copies of their event descriptions everywhere.

Event Types

Congresses and Festivals are usually several days long. Workshops maybe only 1-2 days. A class/course is always only a few hours. Make sure to always set the course as per day and exact time. You can use the copy button to quickly generate it also for upcoming weeks. In the future this will also be automated.

Recurring events

You can add partys/courses that are weekly and therefore recurring. When doing that, set the "repeat count" on e.g. 2 (2 weeks in advance) and it will auto create the next events for you, always those many weeks in advance.

Note that it will duplicate the events, so if you edit one of those, the other are not modified. Only modifying the last one will also make sure that future ones will be modified. This helps to keep them separate, e.g. when you have to cancel one specific event, while the others are still supposed to be happening normally.

Existing events

If you find an existing event that does contain wrong info, you can submit a feedback on the right side with the correct update. It will then be merged in.

If an existing event is actually your event, you can claim it, so asking the current owner of it (or the admins) to transfer it to you. In general, the organizer of an event always has the primary claim.
Make sure to escalate this to admins if there is an issue that cannot be resolved on its own.
